Biography
Alison Cole is Director of the independent think tank The Cultural Policy Unit and Editor-at-Large of The Art Newspaper (previously its Editor-in-Chief). She has been an Executive Director for leading UK cultural organisations, including Arts Council England, Southbank Centre and Art Fund, specialising in strategic leadership, communications, advocacy, policy, publications and digital initiatives. She is Founding Trustee of the Gulbenkian Prize for Museum of the Year, a former Trustee of the Foundling Museum, and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Art UK and is a member of the Critics’ Circle. She originated the schools national visual literacy programme ‘The Superpower of Looking’ and the BBC/Arts Council media platform ‘The Space’. She is also an author and art historian; her books include Michelangelo: The Taddei Tondo (2017) and Italian Renaissance Courts: Art, Pleasure and Power (2016). She holds an M.Phil. in Renaissance Studies from the Warburg Institute, University of London.
